The US government has delivered 20 new armored vehicles to Haiti to strengthen anti-gang operations, following concerns raised by Kenyan President William Ruto about inadequate support for troops deployed there. The vehicles, provided through the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, aim to enhance the capacity of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) and Haitian National Police in combating violent gangs terrorizing local communities. The GSF, which includes Kenyan officers who previously served in the Multinational Security Support mission, had been using old, unreliable vehicles, prompting Ruto to appeal for better logistical support at the United Nations General Assembly. The new delivery marks a significant boost to operational effectiveness and demonstrates US commitment to stabilizing Haiti’s security environment.
