Kenya has tapped a former Trump administration official to strengthen its presence in Washington, hiring Continental Strategy, a lobbying firm led by ex-US ambassador Carlos Trujillo. The deal, worth $175,000 a month plus expenses, comes at a time of global upheaval that has seen some nations tilt toward China and Russia and others stay neutral. Defending the investment against domestic criticism, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi stated that such partnerships are a standard, legitimate practice for advancing foreign policy, trade, and security interests in the US. With this move, Nairobi is signaling its intent to sharpen its profile in America’s political corridors at a time of shifting global alliances.
