CNBC and Statista have named ten African fintech firms among the world’s top 300 fintechs for 2025. The 300 firms, selected from over 2,000 companies across the globe, were recognized for driving innovation in payments, wealth tech, and alternative financing. Nigeria led with five entries, including PiggyVest, which is the only African firm listed in the wealth tech category. The other Nigerian companies on the list, Interswitch, Opay, Palmpay, and Moniepoint, were included in the payments category. From Kenya’s asset-financing M-KOPA to Egypt’s Paymob, the recognition celebrates resilience and progress amid a global funding slowdown. The list was compiled using metrics such as growth, revenue, and impact, highlighting Africa’s fintech ascent on the global stage.
