A new design exhibition in Rabat is shining a spotlight on Moroccan creativity by celebrating the fusion of tradition and modern innovation. Hosted at the Abla Ababou Gallery, “Eloge du Geste” (In Praise of Gesture) brings together six designers whose 130 works explore the dialogue between old and new. From Reda Bouamrani’s blend of Islamic art and Art Deco to Leila Billon’s henna-inspired embroidery and Jamil Bennani’s wood-based pieces, each artist highlights a deep connection to their materials. Gallery director Abla Ababou says the show pushes back against uniform industrial design, reminding visitors that craftsmanship remains a powerful space for imagination.
