Zuma’s daughter quits parliament

4

Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former South African president Jacob Zuma, has quit parliament amid allegations that she recruited 17 South Africans to fight for Russia in Ukraine. Representing the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) opposition party, Zuma-Sambudla stepped down immediately from all public roles. MK officials stressed that her resignation was voluntary, not an admission of guilt, and pledged support for the families of the men involved. The government confirmed it is investigating how the men ended up in Ukraine, where many African citizens have joined Russian forces under promises of lucrative contracts. Police will probe Zuma-Sambudla following a formal request by her half-sister. The case highlights a broader issue, as Kyiv reports that over 1,400 Africans are currently fighting for Russia in the war.
