Dangote Refinery to double output by 2028

3

Nigeria’s Dangote Group has partnered with the American conglomerate Honeywell to support its ambitious plan to expand refining capacity by 2028, moving closer to becoming the world’s largest petroleum refinery. Honeywell will provide specialized technology and equipment, including Oleflex technology, to help double the facility’s capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day. The expansion will allow Dangote to process a wider range of crude grades and increase polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually. The refinery, already Africa’s largest single-train facility at 650,000 barrels per day, aims to meet Nigeria’s domestic fuel needs while generating surplus for export. The deal, rumored to be worth over $250 million, also comes at a pivotal time for Honeywell as it prepares to spin off its aerospace division.
