ALX, Anthropic, and the Government of Rwanda have launched a groundbreaking partnership to transform learning across Africa through artificial intelligence. The initiative introduces “Chidi,” an AI-powered learning companion built on Anthropic’s Claude model, designed to foster critical thinking for both students and educators. Following a successful initial rollout, the project will now expand Chidi’s use across Rwanda’s public education system, reaching up to 2,000 educators and select civil servants and providing hands-on training in generative AI tools. The program also includes access to Claude Tools for a year and will inform Rwanda’s national AI policy. By combining cutting-edge AI, African innovation, and government support, the partnership aims to equip the continent’s youth with future-ready skills and establish Africa as a hub for ethical, AI-powered learning.
